The final home meet of the season for the Moccasin swimming team was as close as it could get, with the Lady Mocs claiming a one-point victory, 102.5-101.5, over California (Pa.) Tuesday at the Hollis Wellness Center Pool.

Each team had won five events going into the final event, the 200-yard freestyle relay, and California had an eight-point lead, but the Moccasins outscored the Vulcans 13-4 with a win and a third-place finish from their two relay teams to claim the meet.

The team of Cara Potter, Kelly Ruf, Rae-Lynn Sheffield and Anna McIntyre won the relay with a time of 1:40.48. The team of Ashley Miller, Tiffany Andrako, Jordon Momsen and Melinda Opgrand finished third in a time of 1:46.91.

Liz Broadley won three events for the Moccasins, taking the 1000-yard freestyle (10:53.85), the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.56) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:23.08).

The Moccasins' next meet is Jan. 23 at Rollins. That will be the final dual meet of the regular season. The meet that had been scheduled for Jan. 30 against Florida A&M and Darton College has been cancelled.
