Clark Captures First SSC Pitcher-of-the-Week Award

Week one of the 2010 softball season brought with it Florida Southern's first Sunshine State Conference award winner of the season, as Christine Clark was selected the league's Pitcher-of-the-Week on Monday. The Moccasins began the season with two wins over Northwood (FL) on Saturday, with Clark pitching six shutout innnings in the opener.
A sophomore from Naples, Clark went 14-4 with three saves in 2009 to earn Second Team All-SSC honors. She began this season by limiting the Seahawks to only four base runners in her six innings, with the Moccasins winning 3-0. Clark allowed three hits, walked one and struck out four. The only serious threat the Seahawks mounted came in the fourth inning when they loaded the bases with two out, but Clark got out of trouble by fielding a ground ball back to the circle and flipping it to first for the final out. She then set down the side in order in the fifth and sixth innings before giving way to Morgan Brown who earned the save.
Clark didn't pitch in game two of the doubleheader, but she did see time at first base where she went two-for-two with a double and scored one run.
The Moccasins play their second doubleheader of the season this Saturday when they host Webber International on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
