Eustaquio Closes With 69; Mocs Finish Sixth At Rollins Invitational
Jude Eustaquio saved his best round of the fall season for last, shooting a three-under-par 69 in the final round of the Rollins Invitational at Ocoee Tuesday.
The Moccasins' senior All-American had not only his best round of the fall, but the best round by any Moccasin golfer this fall. It enabled him to rebound from back-to-back 75s in the first two rounds to finish as FSC's low scorer for the tournament with a 219 that tied him for 18th.
Lynn, which trailed Rollins by one stroke going into the final round, overtook the Tars and won the tournament with a final team score of 845. Rollins was second at 861. The Moccasins, who started the final round in fifth place, slipped to sixth with a final team score of 878, three behind fifth-place Columbus State.
Coach Doug Gordin used his fourth different combination of golfers in the fall season in this tournament. Tim Crouch and Shelton Smith each finished at 220 to tie for 20th.
Lee White tied for 27th with a 223. Tobin Dunigan tied for 38th with a 226. Lynn's Ricardo Gouveia maintained his first-day lead and won the tournament with a 207.
Two other Moccasins - Pat Gocklin and Shane Convery - played as individuals. Gocklin shot a 223 and tied for 27th, while Convery shot a 236 and was 52nd.
