Whitehead Wraps Up FSU Twilight Meet for the Moccasins

TALLAHASSEE - Karys Whitehead was the final Moccasin runner to compete in the 2011 FSU Twilight Meet on Saturday, turning in her best performance of the season, and nearly setting a school record in the 800 meters in the process.
In her only event of the night, Whitehead clocked a time of 2:23.54 in the 800-meter race, surpassing her previous season's best by four seconds, and her previous career best by exactly three seconds. She fell just over one second short of the school record, set by Ali Gardino in 2009, the same year Whitehead ran what had been the Mocs' second fastest 800-meter race.
