Final 2011 SSC Offensive Player-of-the-Week Award Goes to Albritton
Playing in the final game of his college career, senior Logan Albritton was selected the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week on Monday for his efforts in Florida Southern’s season-ending, 4-1 win over 5th-ranked Rollins.
A local product of Auburndale High School, Albritton played most of his senior year in the middle of the Florida Southern defense, but was used in an attacking position against Rollins. He opened the scoring just 3:26 into the match with his second goal of the season, staking the Moccasins to a 1-0 lead. The score remained that way until early in the second half when the Mocs scored again, and Albritton helped put them ahead 3-0 by assisting their next goal in the 67th minute.
The play of Albritton helped Florida Southern to its first win over a top-five team in 11 years, and wins over Rollins in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1964-65. The 4-1 win solidified the Mocs’ position as the highest scoring team in the SSC for the second year in a row.
The award won by Albritton gave the Mocs a total of three SSC Offensive Players-of-the-Week this year, the most by Florida Southern since 1999. Zach Hofstetter won the award twice this year.
