Mocs Get No. 2 Seed In South Regional At Rollins

The Moccasins won't have far to travel for the NCAA South Regional next weekend and they'll face a familiar foe. Seeded second in the eight-team field that will play at Rollins, the Moccasins will face Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Tech, which is seeded seventh, in their first game. Tip-off for Friday's game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Admission for each day of the tournament is $10 for adults, and $8 for senior citizens and students 13 and older with a valid ID. Children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge.
Prior to the Florida Southern-Florida Tech game on Friday, third-seeded Fort Valley State and sixth-seeded Valdosta State will square off at noon. The winners of those two early games will meet on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The South Region Championship Game is scheduled for Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
Rollins is the top seed and will take on eighth-seeded West Alabama on Friday at 5:00 p.m. That game will be followed by fourth-seeded Alabama-Huntsville against fifth-seeded Delta State at 7:30 on Friday night. Those two winners will meet in Saturday's other semifinal at 7:30 p.m.
This will be Florida Southern's 10th trip to the NCAA Tournament, and its second under Jarrod Olson. The Moccasins advanced to the second round of last year's South Region Tournament in Russellville, Arkansas. Their best finish came in 1995, when they won the South Region Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight under former coach Norm Benn.
This year's Elite Eight is in San Antonio, Texas, March 20-23.
