Men 11th After Day One At D-II Championship
Scoring all of their first-day points in two events, the Moccasins are 11th with 42 points after one day of competition at the NCAA Division II Championship at Mansfield, Texas, Wednesday.
Jeb Halfacre was third in the 200-yard individual medley, with Luis Rojas finishing eighth and Miguel Ferreira 16th, giving the Moccasins 28 points. Halfacre had set a school record in the prelims with a time of 1:47.35, then had a time of 1:47.36 in the finals. Rojas' time was 1:48.92 and Ferreira's time was 1:51.53.
The Moccasins' picked up 14 points with a 10th-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, setting a school record with a time of 1:28.54. Halfacre swam leadoff, followed by Ferreira, Bruce Janzen and Robbie Swan.
Thursday's events - 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay. Prelims will start at 11:30 a.m. (ET), with the finals set for 7 p.m. (ET).
