Men's Golf Team Earns Bid To Super Regional
For the 40th time in the rich history of the men's golf program, the Moccasins are headed to the NCAA Tournament. Coach Doug Gordin's squad will be one of ten teams representing the South Region in the South/Southeast Super Regional May 7-9 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C. Lenoir-Rhyne is the host school.
Joining the sixth-ranked Moccasins from the Sunshine State Conference will be top-ranked Nova Southeastern, second-ranked Barry, third-ranked Lynn, seventh-ranked Rollins, eighth-ranked Florida Tech and ninth-ranked Eckerd. Representing the Gulf South Conference will be fourth-ranked North Alabama, fifth-ranked West Florida and 10th-ranked Valdosta State.
Those schools will join 10 schools from the Southeast Region for the Super Regional.
The top five teams from the field of 20 and top two individuals not on one of those five teams will advance to the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship May 15-19 at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
The Moccasins own 12 NCAA Division II titles in men's golf, the most by any Division II school. Five of those 12 titles have come under Gordin, the most recent coming in 2010.
