Snyder and Jensen Make Daktronics All-South Region Team
Mike Snyder and Cory Jensen added to their award total when the two seniors were both named to the Daktronics All-South Region baseball team. The team includes players from the Sunshine State Conference, Gulf South Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Conference, as well as any independents in the South Region. Snyder had already been voted First Team All-Sunshine State Conference at third base while Jensen was First Team All-SSC as a utility player.
Snyder hit .325 for the Mocs this year with 13 doubles, 12 home runs and 47 RBI. It marked the second year in a row Snyder led Florida Southern in both home runs and RBI. Eight of those homers and 30 of his RBI came in Florida Southern’s 24 conference games. Snyder finished his college career by going 9-for-14 with three doubles, two homers and nine RBI in a 3-game series at Rollins. He had two multi-homer games as a senior and hit 22 home runs with 91 RBI in his 2-year Moccasin career.
Jensen was the Moccasins top hitter in 2012, batting .335 with nine doubles, one triple, four homers and 25 RBI. He also tied for the team lead with 20 walks and had a .409 on-base percentage. He was even better in conference play, hitting .395 with a .490 on-base percentage, and also hitting for the cycle against Florida Tech on March 4. Jensen started multiple games at four different defensive positions for the Moccasins, including 23 at second base and 11 in center field.
Overall, 16 players from the SSC made the Daktronics All-Region team, with six different SSC teams represented. Both region player-of-the-year (Lynn DH Anthony Boza) and pitcher-of-the-year (Tampa's Sean Bierman) were also from the SSC.
