Wards To Be Guest Speakers & Coaches At Native Vision Camp
For the second straight summer, men's lacrosse coach Marty Ward is serving as a guest speaker and coach at a Native Vision Camp. This year's camp is at Tuba City, Arizona, June 7-9.
Hosted by the Navajo Nation, the camp is designed to help promote wellness among Native American children. The particpating youngsters take part in a number of activities, including clinics for lacrosse, football, basketball, volleyball, soccer and track.
Joining Ward this year is his wife, Aricka, who is an assistant for the FSC women's lacrosse team under head coach Kara Reber. She will be working with the girls' lacrosse events.
Last year Ward attended the camp at Shiprock, N.M., that had approximately 800 Native American youngsters attending.
Both FSC lacrosse teams enjoyed successful seasons in 2012. The men's team went 10-6, posted the most wins in the program's four-year history and finished as the Deep South Conference runner-up for the second straight year. The women's program, in its first season of competition, was 12-4 and was 15th in the final Division II poll.
