Moccasin All-American Swimmer Jeb Halfacre Opens "Faces of the Sunshine State Conference" Feature
WINTER PARK – Florida Southern All-American swimmer Jeb Halfacre has become the first student-athlete profiled in the “Faces of the Sunshine State Conference” feature that was released on Tuesday.
The “Faces of the Sunshine State Conference” is a series of profiles of current and former SSC student-athletes. Each of the league’s nine member institutions selected one current student-athlete or alumni for its profile.
All of the nine profiles were written by Katie Gwinn, who recently completed a summer internship with the SSC office. Gwinn will be a senior at Saint Leo University in 2012-13 and is majoring in communications management.
Beginning with Halfacre’s profile on Tuesday, the league will post the student-athlete profiles on the conference website (www.sunshinestateconference.com) and each article will be linked from SSC’s Facebook page, as well as the SSC’s Twitter page, @D2SSC.
Halfacre, who is a native of Gainesville, Fla., and will be a senior this coming season, repeated as the SSC Male Athlete of the Year in 2011-12 after winning the 200-yard backstroke for the third consecutive season in an NCAA-record time of 1:43.41 at last year’s NCAA D-II Championships. In addition, he swam the leadoff leg on FSC’s 400-yard medley relay team that won its second straight national title and he was also a member of FSC’s national championship 800-yard freestyle relay team. Both of those relay teams set new NCAA records.
Last season, Halfacre was undefeated in the 200-yard backstroke, set six FSC individual and three relay school records, set one SSC individual and four relay SSC records and set one individual NCAA record and two NCAA relay records.
