Moccasin Tennis Hosting USTA/FSC Campus Showdown Tournament
Mocs Tennis is hosting a USTA Campus Showdown Tournament on Sept. 22.LAKELAND – Florida Southern Women's Tennis coach Trish Riddell has announced that the Moccasins are hosting a USTA/FSC Campus Showdown Tournament that is open to the public on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The tournament, which will be held at FSC’s brand new Wynee Warden Tennis Center that is scheduled to be formally dedicated on Sept. 14, is open to players of all ages and playing levels. The tournament will begin with check-in at 8 a.m., while play begins at 8:30 a.m.
Cost for the event is $10 for singles and $10 per doubles team and entries must be submitted by 6 p.m. on Sept. 21 for singles and by 12 p.m. on Sept. 22 for doubles.
"This will be an exciting event for our program as this will be the first tournament played in our new complex,” Riddell said in announcing the event. “I encourage everyone of all ages and playing levels to come out and participate.”
Riddell said the one-day event is open to juniors, adults, college players and professionals. The tournament, which is a compass draw format, will feature short sets and no-ad scoring.
“There will be lots and lots of tennis played at this event,” the Mocs coach added.
