Moccasins Have Released Its Basketball Summer Camp Dates
LAKELAND - Florida Southern head men's basketball coach Linc Darner has announced his program's camp dates for this coming summer.
The Moccasins, who took home its third consecutive Sunshine State Conference Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the seventh straight season in 2013-14, will conduct three camps this summer on campus at Jenkins Field House.
FSC's first camp will be a high school team shootout for varsity and junior varsity high school teams. The camp will be held on June 7-8. The cost of the camp varies depending on the number a teams a school brings and the amount of games they choose to play. Teams can choose to play just one day or two days and can play as few as three games to as much as 16 games if they play for two days and bring two teams.
The next summer camp is a day camp for boys and girls in second through ninth grade. The day camp is scheduled for Aug. 4-8 and will cost $150 per child and include a camp t-shirt. The camp will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4 through Thursday, Aug. 7 and from 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, Aug. 8. Lunch will not be provided as the campers can bring their own lunch, or buy lunch at the camp concession stand. The camp is a great opportunity for young boys and girls aspiring to improve as basketball players. Through drills and competition, this camp is designed to give kids a fun and exciting introduction to the fundamentals of basketball that will help maximize and develop one's skills.
FSC's third and final camp of the summer will be a developmental camp, that will be limited to the first 100 applicants that sign up. The camp is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9 and will cost $50 per player and include a camp t-shirt. The camp is open to boys entering grade 9 through 12. The developmental camp will help aspiring players improve on their skills, through games and drills. The camp will not include meals, but a concession stand will be provided with pizza, drinks, chips and etc. that will be available to purchase. The morning session of the camp will feature station/drill work, stretching and introductions, while after the lunch break, the players will be grouped into teams and play games.
