Box Score

Despite a standout pitching effort from Max Russell, the Moccasins suffered their fifth straight loss, falling to Flagler 2-1 Friday night at Henley Field.

Russell matched his career high with 14 strikeouts, scattered six hits and walked only two through eight innings, but all he had to show for it was his first career loss and the first in eight decisions for him this season.

The Saints (17-30) scored their two runs in the third inning on back-to-back doubles by Joey Rivera and Joey Kampfer and back-to-back singles by Cale Owen and Will Percy.

The Moccasins (33-11) had base runners in every inning except one, but were only able to score in the sixth when Trae Gore was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in Nick Stanley, who had led off the inning with a double.  The Moccasins stranded 13 in the game.

Austin Donmoyer worked the first seven innings for Flagler and got the win, improving his record to 5-6.  With one out in the ninth the Moccasins put two runners on base when Wade Kirkland was hit by a pitch and Stanley walked.  Tyler McKendree relieved Drew Jackson and retired Zach Maggard on an infield out and Colin Kish on a strikeout to end the game and earn his third save.

The Moccasins and Saints play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. at Henley Field.
