MACKLEY LEADS MOCS TO 3rd AT FLA. TECH
For the second straight meet, the Moccasin men placed their top three runners in the top ten as the squad placed third at the Florida Tech Invitational Saturday at Melbourne. Scott Mackley led FSC with a fourth-place finish over the 8K course in 25:37. Eric Larson was right behind him in fifth place in 25:42. Ben Martucci finished seventh in 25:51. Embry-Riddle's Sam Vazquez was the individual winner in 25:21, edging Nova Southeastern's Jeff Palmer by two seconds. After the Moccasins' top three finishers, J.J. Blackburn was 28th in 28:18, Jason Patchett-Gillis was 29th in 28:21, Charlie Fanning was 30th in 28:27 and Marcus Duffy was 40th in 29:29.
FSC scored 73 points, 18 behind runner-up Nova Southeastern, which had 55. Embry-Riddle won the men's meet with 46 points in the eight-team field.
The Moccasins' next meet will be Sept. 27 at the Florida State Invitational at Tallahassee.
