BOCA RATON - Three Moccasins were honored for their outstanding performances at this weekend's Courtyard by Marriott/Lynn Invitational by being named to the 12-member All-Tournament Team following the conclusion of the event on Sunday afternoon at the deHoernle Center.
The Mocs named to the All-Tournament Team were senior outside hitter Anne Pietkiewicz (Winter Park, Fla.), junior setter Ali Skayhan (Beaverton, Ore.) and sophomore outside hitter Kate Stromberg (Lexington, Kent.) after leading FSC to three consecutive sweeps at the event.
Pietkiewicz earned All-Tournament Team honors after leading the Mocs in both kills (31) and digs (24) and hitting .388 in nine sets and three matches, while Skayhan earned All-Tournament honors after recording 11 kills, hitting a team-best .556, having 89 assists (9.89 assists per set) and 21 digs and Stromberg received All-Tournament accolades after recording 30 kills (4.29 kills per sets), hitting .338, having four service aces, nine digs and four blocks.
The FSC contingent was joined on the Courtyard by Marriott/Lynn Invitational All-Tournament Team by Lynn's threesome of Michelle Jordan, Lizza Raffa, and Brianna Cox, Chelsea Luttfring and Tania Tauiliili from Valdosta State, Ann Donahue from Assumption, Ashley Brooks from Clark Atlanta and Maria Rodriguez and Carolina Guerrero from Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
It marked the second straight tournament that the Mocs had a representative on an All-Tournament Team as sophomore right side hitter Gabby Fernandez (Tampa, Fla.) was selected to the All-Tournament Team at last weekend's season opening Western Oregon Classic.
The Mocs return to action this coming weekend as they travel to Savannah, Ga., to play in the Armstrong Atlantic Classic. FSC will open the tournament on Friday, Sept. 14 at 2:30 p.m. against North Alabama, before facing Flagler later in the day at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 15, the Mocs will play UPR-Rio Piedras at 11 a.m. and conclude the tournament at 2 p.m. against the host school, Armstrong Atlantic.
