DAYTONA BEACH - Florida Southern Men's Tennis opened the fall portion of its schedule here this weekend by compiling a 25-9 overall record at the Embry-Riddle Open held at the E. William Crotty Tennis Complex on the ERAU campus.
In singles action, five Moccasins went undefeated as junior Nathan Leavitt (Bradenton, Fla.) went 3-0 in the Blue Flight, while junior Vladimir Barabash (Puhovka, Ukraine) was 3-0 and junior Robbie Palmiotto (Boca Raton, Fla.) was 2-0 in the White Flight. Junior Tony D'Angelo (Mendham, N.J.) was 2-0 and sophomore Austin Comings (Heathrow, Fla.) posted a 1-0 record in the Eagle Flight and finished 1-1 in the White Flight.
Other competitors this weekend for the Mocs in singles included junior Benoit Paradis (Quebec City, Quebec) went 2-1 in the Gold Flight, while sophomore Emanuel Luber (Tiengen, Germany) was 1-2 in the Gold Flight and junior Jorge Gutierrez (Madrid, Spain) went 1-2 in the Blue Flight.
In doubles action, Paradis and Leuber teamed together to post a 3-0 mark in the Gold Flight, while Comings and Carl Lundberg (Stocksund, Sweden) went 3-0 in the Blue Flight. Barabash and Palmiotto were 2-1 in the Blue Flight and Gutierrez teamed with Leavitt to go 1-2 at the Gold Flight.
The Mocs will return to action on Sept. 27-30 as they host the ITA Men's South Regional Tournament. The event will be held at the Beerman Tennis Complex in Lakeland, which is located Edgewood Drive.
