  • Beach Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Six Matches

    ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Florida Southern College beach volleyball improved to 10-8 on the season with 4-1 victories over Lincoln Memorial and Eckerd in St. Petersburg on Tuesday afternoon. The Mocs took down the Lady Railsplitters for the second straight day. 
  • Esports Recap: Hearthstone Ends Season of Multiple Upsets

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College Hearthstone had its season end on Monday night after a close 3-2 loss to UC Irvine. The Moccasins end their season with a 5-6 record, just missing on the postseason. The Mocs will look to build on upsets over California, Oregon and Boise State for next season as they seek the first postseason appearance for an esports team at Florida Southern.

  • Gartrell and Wetzel Break Par in Final Round of Barry Invitational, Lifting Moccasins to Eighth-Place Finish

    MIAMI LAKES, FL – Junior Amanda Gartrell and senior Madi Wetzel had final-round scores of one-under-par 71, leading No. 13 Florida Southern to one of the best team scores of the day as the Moccasins finished in eighth place at the Barry University Invitational. Host school Barry, ranked No. 2 in the country, won its own tournament by nine shots over No. 10 Florida Tech.

    LAKELAND, FL – Florida Southern College President Dr. Anne B. Kerr has announced the appointment of Drew Howard as the Moccasins’ new Director of Athletics & Dean of Wellness. The announcement was made on Monday during a press conference at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House.

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College beach volleyball picked up a pair of victories on Tuesday afternoon. The Mocs (8-8) defeated Lincoln Memorial (0-2) and North Alabama (4-7) at the Ruthven Beach Courts. Florida Southern began the day with a 4-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial and closed the night out with a 3-2 victory over Division I foe North Alabama.

    KANSAS CITY, MO - Florida Southern College men's basketball standouts Jonathan Lawton and Brett Hanson have been named as NABC all-district selections, the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced on Monday. Lawton was a first-team selection for the South District, while Hanson earned second-team honors.
  • Lison Named SSC Defensive Player of the Week

    MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse student-athlete Austen Lison was named Sunshine State Conference defensive player of the week announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Lison picked up 13 ground balls and caused 12 turnovers as the Mocs went 2-1 last week.

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse cruised to an 18-6 victory over Colorado Mesa. The Mocs (6-4, 1-0 SSC) rallied off six straight goals over first two quarters to take take a 6-2 lead at the half over the Mavericks (3-5).

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College beach volleyball surpassed last years win total by taking two from Stevenson on Saturday. The Mocs (6-8) won all five games in the first match over the Mustangs (3-7) and won the second match 4-1 to complete the sweep.

  • Mocs Come Back Over and Over Again to Earn Split with 9-8, Extra-Inning Win; Embry-Riddle Takes Game One 5-3

    LAKELAND, FL – Saturday afternoon’s doubleheader between Florida Southern and Embry-Riddle was one of those “where to begin?” days. Where it ended was the Moccasins winning in extra innings on a sacrifice bunt by Makayla Deuberry, combined with a throwing error that allowed the run to score all the way from first. That only happened after the Mocs rallied from three different two-run deficits behind two-run homers from Maddi Conner and Meghan Sexton, with a whole lot of Jadin Dewith all day long. Eventually, both teams got wins in their final at-bats, with Embry-Riddle taking game one, 5-3, and Florida Southern taking the nightcap, 9-8 in eight innings.
  • Trio of Moccasins Set Top-Five Fastest Times in School History at USF Bulls Invitational

    TAMPA, FL - Sarah Zamot, Stephanie Hansen and Anna Brook Opalinski set top-five school-record times for Florida Southern women's track on Friday and Saturday as they competed in the 2019 USF Bulls Invitational. The Moccasins set six personal records in four events, including top-five school-record times in the grueling 10,000-meter run by Zamot (40:16.35), Hansen (40:17.60) and Opalinski (40:45.62).

    BOCA RATON, FL - Cody Duke's two-run homer in the second inning gave Florida Southern College baseball an early lead, but Lynn scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 13-6 victory on Friday at the Lynn Baseball Field.
  • Kozik Finishes First With School-Record Time at UNF Spring Break Invitational

    JACKSONVILLE, FL - Mitchell Kozik set a school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase for Florida Southern men's track on Friday as they competed in the 2019 UNF Spring Break Invitational. Kozik's first-place time of 9:40.00 bests his previous personal record and then school-record time of 9:43.71 set at UNF last year.
  • Hop’s Early Hitting and Late Pitching Stops FSC Comeback as Embry-Riddle Pulls out 5-3 Win over Moccasins

    LAKELAND, FL – Down by four runs in the third inning after a big hit by Embry-Riddle right fielder Lisa Hop, Florida Southern fought back and put the Eagles in a couple of tough spots in the latter innings, only to have Hop push the door closed as a relief pitcher with the game on the line. The Moccasins (12-16, 4-12 Sunshine State Conference) got two extra-base hits apiece from Makayla Deuberry and Celia Higgins, and two key contributions from Jessica Trana, but it was not enough to prevent Embry-Riddle (15-12, 7-6) from pulling out a 5-3 win.
  • Flemming Earns Top-10 Finish at UNF Spring Break Invitational

    JACKSONVILLE, FL - Hannah Flemming earned a top-10 finish in the 5,000-meter run for Florida Southern women's track on Friday as they competed in the 2019 UNF Spring Break Invitational. The Moccasins set three personal records in the 5000m led by Flemming's 18:00.08, the fourth-fastest time in school history and the second-best performer overall. Alayna Goll tied her 18:09.31 mark she set last week in Orlando and Ysabella Guerra set a personal record with her time of 18:14.11
  • Men's Tennis Cracks ITA Oracle Rankings

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's tennis cracked the ITA Oracle rankings on Wednesday, earning the No. 30 ranking in the nation. The Moccasins received high marks for upsetting No. 14 Palm Beach Atlantic and benefitted from close losses to highly ranked opponents like No. 4 Saint Leo, No. 40 Embry-Riddle and No. 12 West Alabama in the computerized rankings.
  • Moccasins Defeat Crusaders on Faculty Appreciation Night

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College women's lacrosse picked up win number seven in a row with a 23-7 victory over Belmont Abbey on Thursday night at Moccasin Field. The Mocs (8-1, 1-0 SSC) opened with a 7-0 run over the Crusaders (5-6, 3-1 CC).
  • Stepnik Enters and Rionda Climbs in ITA Oracle Rankings

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College women's tennis saw Magda Stepnik enter and Lorena Rionda climb in the ITA Orcale rankings on Wednesday, with Rionda moving from No. 50 to No. 23 and Stepnik entering the singles rankings at No. 42. The Moccasins also remained solidly in the top 15 of the team rankings at No. 12.
  • Moccasins Cruise 6-1 Over Eagles

    DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Florida Southern College women's tennis stayed perfect in conference play on Thursday afternoon, cruising to a 6-1 win over Embry-Riddle. The No. 12 Moccasins (12-1, 3-0 SSC) won the doubles point over the No. 47 Eagles (4-5, 0-3 SSC) and nearly swept all the singles flights en route to their third win in a row. 
  • Moccasins Upset Division I Highlanders
    March 20, 2019
    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's tennis earned the upset on Wednesday afternoon, defeating New Jersey Institute of Technology in a close 4-3 match at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. The No. 30 Moccasins' (7-9) win over the Highlanders (4-9) is the first over a Division I oppenent since defeating Bethune-Cookman on February 1, 2013 in an identical 4-3 scoreline. The Mocs are also now 4-2 this season in one-match decisions, most recently falling to Sonoma State on Sunday and defeating Ferris State at home on Friday before Wednesday's win.
