Hanson is SSC Player of the Week for Second Time This Season January 1, 2018 MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern’s Brett Hanson has been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time in his career after leading the Moccasins to a 74-71 win over 19th-ranked Southern New Hampshire on Saturday. The sophomore guard, who is from Manchester, New Hampshire, scored a team-high 23 points, and tied for the team lead with 12 rebounds and five assists.
Men's Hoops Topples No. 19 Southern New Hampshire December 30, 2017 LAKELAND, FL - Brett Hanson and Ben Marello each hit 20 points as Florida Southern College men's basketball took down No. 19 Southern New Hampshire, 74-71, on Saturday afternoon at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (8-5) came out on fire in the first half, but went cold over the final 20 minutes and were forced to hang on late as the Penmen (9-2) nearly overcame a 22-point second-half deficit.

Moccasin Beach Volleyball Reveals Inaugural Schedule December 21, 2017 LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College beach volleyball head coach Hyrum Keime has revealed his team's inaugural schedule. The Moccasins will begin competing in beach volleyball in the Spring, with several matches scheduled to take place at the new Joe P. and Judy Ruthven Beach Volleyball Courts.
Men's Basketball Comes Up Short Against Dominican December 19, 2017 LAKELAND, FL - A slow start to the second half proved too much to overcome as Florida Southern College men's basketball came up short in its attempt at a rally in an 81-76 loss to visiting Dominican (NY) on Tuesday night at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (7-5) led by four points at the half, but the Chargers (8-3) held the Mocs to just 41.7 percent from the floor in the second half to come away with the win.

FSC Men's Swimming Team Ranked No. 19, Women Receiving Votes in December 19 CSCAA National Poll December 19, 2017 With the first semester of the 2017-18 season now complete, the Florida Southern men’s swimming team is ranked No. 19 in the December 19 CSCAA national poll, and the women’s team is among those receiving votes. The rankings are voted on by a committee of CSCAA member coaches.
Balanced Attack Leads Mocs Past Lions December 18, 2017 LAKELAND, FL - Brett Hanson and Jonathan Lawton each scored 21 points, and five different players scored in double figures as Florida Southern College men's basketball used a balanced offensive attack to come away with a 94-85 win over Emmanuel on Monday at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (7-4) picked up their third-straight win and eclipsed 90 points for the fourth game in a row in their first-ever meeting against the Lions (7-5).

Women’s Swimming Team Completes Spartan Invitational with Four More Individual and One More Relay NCAA Provisional Times December 18, 2017 CLEARWATER, FL – Led by a fourth-place finish from Peyton Breault in the 200-backstroke, Florida Southern had four more NCAA provisional qualifying times among its individual swimmers, and closed out the four-day Spartan Invitational with another “B” time in the 400-freestyle relay. That showing allowed the Moccasins to finish fifth in the team standings (third among Division II schools), while Division I Rice won the meet with a 272½-point margin over Nova Southeastern.

Campbell Adds to Florida Southern Win Total, While Planinc, Lopez & Jasso Medal Again on Final Day of Spartan Invitational December 18, 2017 CLEARWATER, FL – Nico Campbell gave Florida Southern its fourth individual win of the meet by capturing the 100-freestyle, and three other Moccasins had at least their second top-three finish of the meet to wrap up the four-day Spartan Invitational. The Moccasins pulled ahead of Saint Leo in the first two events Monday night to secure fourth place in the team standings, while Indian River State finished 9½ points ahead of Nova Southeastern to take the overall win.

Holmes and Dyck Each Win Once and Moccasins Add Two Runner-Up Finishes on Day Three of Spartan Invitational December 17, 2017 CLEARWATER, FL – Matthew Holmes won his second race of the meet and fifth of the season, while Brandon Dyck gave Florida Southern another win and posted season win number three to lead the Moccasin swimmers on day three of the Spartan Invitational.

Hajdinjak Places Third in 100-Butterfly as Six Different Moccasin Women’s Swimmers Have NCAA Provisional Times on Day Three of Spartan Invitational December 17, 2017 CLEARWATER, FL – One day after five of their swimmers had NCAA provisional qualifying times, the Moccasins did one better on Sunday with six of them doing so. Topping that list was Katja Hajdinjak, who had their best finish of the night by placing third in the 100-butterfly while setting a school record in that event.

Mocs Use Stifling Defense to Down Flyers December 16, 2017 LAKELAND, FL - Jirah Ards scored a season-high 18 points to lead four players in double figures as Florida Southern College women's basketball overcame a bevy of injuries to pick up a 70-61 win over visiting Lewis on Saturday at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (8-3) dressed just eight players for the game but were able to use a stifling defensive effort in the third quarter to erase a three-point halftime deficit and complete the comeback against the Flyers (7-4).

Gordin Receives 40-Year Service Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America December 12, 2017 LAS VEGAS - Florida Southern men’s golf coach Doug Gordin has received the 40-Year Service Award by the Golf Coaches Association of America at their annual convention, held this year in Las Vegas. Gordin is the only recipient of that award this year, which recognizes outstanding service to both his school and the sport of golf.
