Hanson is SSC Player of the Week for Second Time This Season

MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern’s Brett Hanson has been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time in his career after leading the Moccasins to a 74-71 win over 19th-ranked Southern New Hampshire on Saturday. The sophomore guard, who is from Manchester, New Hampshire, scored a team-high 23 points, and tied for the team lead with 12 rebounds and five assists.

LAKELAND, FL - Brett Hanson and Ben Marello each hit 20 points as Florida Southern College men's basketball took down No. 19 Southern New Hampshire, 74-71, on Saturday afternoon at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (8-5) came out on fire in the first half, but went cold over the final 20 minutes and were forced to hang on late as the Penmen (9-2) nearly overcame a 22-point second-half deficit.

LAKELAND, FL - A slow start to the second half proved too much to overcome as Florida Southern College men's basketball came up short in its attempt at a rally in an 81-76 loss to visiting Dominican (NY) on Tuesday night at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (7-5) led by four points at the half, but the Chargers (8-3) held the Mocs to just 41.7 percent from the floor in the second half to come away with the win.

Women’s Swimming Team Completes Spartan Invitational with Four More Individual and One More Relay NCAA Provisional Times

CLEARWATER, FL – Led by a fourth-place finish from Peyton Breault in the 200-backstroke, Florida Southern had four more NCAA provisional qualifying times among its individual swimmers, and closed out the four-day Spartan Invitational with another “B” time in the 400-freestyle relay. That showing allowed the Moccasins to finish fifth in the team standings (third among Division II schools), while Division I Rice won the meet with a 272½-point margin over Nova Southeastern.

LAKELAND, FL - Jirah Ards scored a season-high 18 points to lead four players in double figures as Florida Southern College women's basketball overcame a bevy of injuries to pick up a 70-61 win over visiting Lewis on Saturday at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (8-3) dressed just eight players for the game but were able to use a stifling defensive effort in the third quarter to erase a three-point halftime deficit and complete the comeback against the Flyers (7-4).

LAS VEGAS - Florida Southern men’s golf coach Doug Gordin has received the 40-Year Service Award by the Golf Coaches Association of America at their annual convention, held this year in Las Vegas. Gordin is the only recipient of that award this year, which recognizes outstanding service to both his school and the sport of golf.
