INDIANAPOLIS - The first NCAA South Region ranking was released today and Florida Southern is in the number three slot behind Delta State and Tampa. The rankings are compiled by the same committee that will select the eight-team field for the NCAA regional tournament in May.
LAKELAND - Tampa scored late in game one and held off a furious Florida Southern rally in game two to sweep a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader Saturday here at Henley Field. The Spartans posted a 6-4 win in the opener and held on for a 14-12 victory in the nightcap.

The loss snaps the the Moccasins' 17-game win streak and drops the team to 25-7 overall and 6-4 in the league while Rollins improves to 19-13 overall and 4-6 in the SSC.
MELBOURNE - Austin Mauer has been named the Sunshine State Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 2. He is the third Moccasin to earn SSC honors this season, joining Jake Walsh (Feb. 13) and Logan Browning (March 6), who both earned SSC Pitcher of the Week recognition.
Florida Southern has ridden a 17-game win streak into the top 10 of the Collegiate Baseball Magazine National Poll released today. The Moccasins are ranked 10th in the poll, the highest ranking for Florida Southern since a No. 9 spot in the April 11, 2016 poll.

MELBOURNE - Logan Browning has been named the Sunshine State Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for March 6 as announced today by the league office. This is Browning's second pitcher of the week honor having earned the award once last season on Feb. 15, 2016. He was also selected as a SSC Player of the Week on March 28 of last season.
