Steven Crabtree joined Florida Southern in the Fall of 2016 after two seasons as an assistant at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. With the Moccasins, Crabtree will be the hitting coach and work with the infielders for the varsity team, and also serve as head coach of the new junior varsity program at Florida Southern.
Crabtree graduated in 2000 from Navarre High School in Navarre, Fla., where he was a standout shortstop. Following graduation, he attended Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Fla.. He then completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida, earning a bachelor of science degree in physical education and coaching in 2009.
Serving as a graduate assistant coaching position at Nyack University in South Nyack, N.Y., Crabtree worked with the infielder and hitters. He received a master of science degree in organizational leadership from Nyack in 2012. He then began working at Best 9 Sports as a head coach for Triple A hitting coach Phil Clark’s USSSA traveling baseball teams.
In 2011, he spent one season as the interim head coach at Freedom High School before rejoining the college ranks as an assistant at Webber International University in 2011, working with the hitters and catchers. The last two seasons he was an assistant coach at Rollins, where he worked with the hitters and help lead them to a .329 average, .501 in slugging percentage, and a .405 on-base percentage in 2016.
Crabtree as also spent time during the summer months as an assistant coach at North Adams in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, summer 2014, as well as the Florida Collegiate Summer League, 2012-2013.
Crabtree lives in Orlando with his wife, Teresa and daughter Marisa.
