Nate Striz joined the Moccasin coaching staff in the Summer of 2016 as an assistant coach on both the varsity and junior varsity staffs. He was given the role of head junior varsity coach prior to the 2016-17 academic year.
A native of Lakeland, Fla., Striz attended Santa Fe Catholic High School from 2004-2007 where he was twice named the Class 2A Player of the Year as well as the 2007 Polk County Player of the Year. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins, but opted to play baseball at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
After his junior year, Striz was drafted again in the 22nd round by the Cleveland Indians. He spent five years playing professional baseball, spending time in the Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, and Colorado Rockies organizations.
Striz graduated in December of 2016 from Florida Southern College with a degree in Business (Sports Management). He made the dean's list both semesters at FSC. He and his wife, Allison, have one daughter, Abigail Josephine.
