  • Mattson, Holmes Earn Pat McFadden Awards

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College held its annual Athletic Academic Awards Banquet on Monday evening as it recognized its top student-athletes in an event held at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. More than 500 student-athletes, coaches, staff, and invited guests were in attendance.
  • Four Moccasins Earn All-SSC Honors

    MELBOURNE, FL - Four Florida Southern men's lacrosse student-athletes earn All-SSC honors. Follow the teams first winning season in conference play since the inaugural SSC men's lacrosse season in 2014, the Mocs have landed three on the first and second teams and two were named to the all-freshman team. Austen Lison was the lone Moccasin on the first team. Jeff Atlas and Kyle Silverstein both were named to the second team while Atlas was joined by Sean Nolan on the all-freshman team. The Mocs have landed at least two players on the all-freshman team since the first year in 2014. 
  • Florida Southern Defeats Florida Tech to Close 2019 Season with a Victory

    MELBOURNE, FL - Maxwell Freestone proved to be a brick wall in goal for Florida Southern College men's lacrosse as it picked up an 11-8 victory at Florida Tech to close out the 2019 season. The Mocs (9-7, 4-3 SSC) finished with a plus .500 winning percentage in conference play for the first time since 2014. The Panthers dropped to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in SSC play. 
  • Simpson Shines on Senior Day, Mocs End Three-Game Losing Streak

    LAKELAND, FL - Dalton Simpson records a career-high six goals as Florida Southern College men's lacrosse closed out the home portion of the 2019 regular season with a 25-16 victory over Embry-Riddle on Moccasin Field on Saturday. The Mocs (8-7, 3-3 SSC) improved to a game above .500 and kept the Eagles (8-8, 0-6 SSC) still searching for its first SSC win of 2019.
  • Florida Southern Drops Third-Straight SSC Contest

    SAINT LEO, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse fell at Saint Leo on Wednesday night. The Mocs (7-7, 2-3 SSC) watched as the Lions (8-5, 2-3 SSC) slowly built a lead while limiting FSC to just six goals in the first half.   
  • Moccasins Unable to Overcome Tars Early Lead

    WINTER PARK, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse dropped its second-straight conference game with a 20-11 loss at Rollins on Saturday afternoon. The Mocs (7-6, 2-2 SSC) tied the Tars (8-3, 2-2 SSC) early in the second quarter at 2-2 but that was the closest they would come to taking a lead all afternoon.  
  • Moccasins Drop First SSC Contest of 2019

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse dropped its first conference game of 2019 with a 17-11 loss to Tampa at Moccasin Field on Wednesday night. The Mocs (7-5, 2-1 SSC) saw the Spartans (9-4, 3-0 SSC) jump out to an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter. 
  • Appio Earns SSC Player of the Week Honors

    MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern men's lacrosse student-athlete, Joe Appio was named Sunshine State Conference Offensive player of the week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Appio becomes the third Moccasin to win the player of the week honors for 2019 and the second in as many weeks. Austen Lison earned defensive honors last week. 
  • Moccasins Improve to 2-0 in SSC Play with Victory at Palm Beach Atlantic

    WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse jumped out to an 8-0 lead en route to an 18-10 victory at Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday afternoon. The Mocs (7-4, 2-0 SSC) shut out the Sailfish (6-6, 1-2 SSC) in the first quarter to grow the lead. 
  • Drew Howard Named Director of Athletics & Dean of Wellness

    LAKELAND, FL – Florida Southern College President Dr. Anne B. Kerr has announced the appointment of Drew Howard as the Moccasins’ new Director of Athletics & Dean of Wellness. The announcement was made on Monday during a press conference at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House.
  • Lison Named SSC Defensive Player of the Week

    MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse student-athlete Austen Lison was named Sunshine State Conference defensive player of the week announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Lison picked up 13 ground balls and caused 12 turnovers as the Mocs went 2-1 last week.
  • Silverstein's Five Points Lead Mocs to 18-6 Victory Over Colorado Mesa

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse cruised to an 18-6 victory over Colorado Mesa. The Mocs (6-4, 1-0 SSC) rallied off six straight goals over first two quarters to take take a 6-2 lead at the half over the Mavericks (3-5).
  • Florida Southern Suffers First Home Loss of 2019 to No. 8 Belmont Abbey

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse saw its three-game winning streak come to an end with a 14-9 loss to No. 8 Belmont Abbey at Moccasin Field on Friday afternoon. The Mocs (5-4, 1-0 SSC) were unable to get the ball past the Abbey (9-1) goalie made 17 saves on 26 shots on goal.  
  • Mocs Pick Up Third-Straight Victory

    LAKELAND, FL- Florida Southern College men's lacrosse picked up a non-conference victory over CSU-Pueblo on Tuesday evening at Moccasin Field. Senior Joe Appio scored five goals for the Mocs (5-3, 1-0 SSC) in an 18-6 victory over the Thunderwolves (3-2). 
  • Florida Southern Defeats Lynn in SSC Opener

    LAKELAND, FL- Florida Southern College men's lacrosse opened Sunshine State Conference play with a 13-9 victory over Lynn. Freshman Maxwell Freestone made 14 saves for the Mocs (4-3, 1-0 SSC) as they sent the visiting Fighting Knights (3-2, 0-1 SSC) back to Boca Raton with their second loss. 
  • Winwood's Overtime Goal Gives Moccasins Third Victory of 2019

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse senior Liam Winwood gave the home crowd a night they will not forget as he put the winning goal past the Westminster goalie with 3:17 remaining in extra time. The Mocs (3-3) scored three unanswered fourth-quarter goals to send the game to overtime against the Griffins (1-2).   
  • Mocs Drop Second Straight in North Carolina

    MOUNT OLIVE, NC - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse was unable to overcome a late run by Mount Olive in the fourth quarter. The Mocs (2-3) were shutout in the third quarter, which allowed the Trojans (6-1) to build a lead on their way to the win.
  • Florida Southern Drops Overtime Contest at Wingate

    WINGATE, NC - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse suffered an overtime loss at Wingate on Wednesday night. In a game that saw neither team hold more than a three-goal lead, Dalton Simpson tied the game up at 12-12 with just 37 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. The Mocs (2-2) saw the Bulldogs (4-1) string together a 3-0 run late in the third quarter to midway through the fourth quarter to put the momentum back on the home side.  
  • Nolan Named SSC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

    MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern men's lacrosse freshman Sean Nolan earned conference recognition for his performance in the Mocs record-setting victory over Emmanuel. Nolan tied a program record with 12 points on Sunday afternoon. He was named Sunshine State Conference men's lacrosse offensive player of the week announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

  • Atlas Records Five Goals in Mocs Victory at Montevallo

    MONTEVALLO, AL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse picked up its first win of the season with a 20-12 victory at the University of Montevallo. Freshmen Jeff Atlas tied a program record with five assists in a game. Atlas ended the afternoon with five goals for a total of ten points. The Mocs (1-1) had six players record multiple goals, while the Falcons (1-4) had just three.

    HUNTSVILLE, AL - Due to unplayable field conditions caused by heavy rain this week, Florida Southern College men's lacrosse has had its Friday contest at Alabama-Huntsville canceled.
  • Florida Southern Suffers Neutral Site Non-Conference Loss to Tampa

    ORLANDO, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse opened its season with a set back to the University of Tampa at Lake Highland Prep in Orlando on Saturday afternoon. The Mocs (0-1) were successful on 14 of 53 total shots, while the Spartans (1-1) converted 17 of 37 total shots. 
  • Men's Lacrosse Opens Season with Non-Conference Game Against Tampa

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse will open the 2019 season with a neutral site contest in Orlando against the University of Tampa. The game will take place at Lake Highland Prep on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. The Mocs will open the home portion of their schedule when they host Emmanuel at Moccasin Field on March 3 at 4 p.m.
  • Florida Southern Picked to Finish Sixth in the Sunshine State Conference

    MELBOURNE, FL – Florida Southern College men's lacrosse has been selected to finish sixth in the annual Sunshine State Conference preseason coaches poll. For the sixth-consecutive season, Sunshine State Conference coaches select the University of Tampa as the preseason favorite. With 48 points and six first-place votes in the poll, the Spartans are expected to recapture the league championship.

  • Men's Lacrosse Announces 2019 Schedule

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse head coach Marty Ward announced his schedule for the 2019 season on Wednesday. Florida Southern will open the season with a non-conference neutral site match against the University of Tampa on Feb. 16. Set to compete on Moccasin Field at the Barnett Athletic Complex for the second year the Mocs will open their home schedule when they host Emmanuel College (GA) on March 3 in addition to six other home contests. Florida Southern will make two trips out of the state of Florida this year, visiting Alabama (Feb. 22&24) and North Carolina (March 6&9).
  • Ward Inducted Into Corcoran High School Hall of Fame

    SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Florida Southern College men's lacrosse head coach Marty Ward to be inducted into the Corcoran High School Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 5 in Syracuse, NY. The 2003 CHS graduate was a three-sport athlete in high school as he was a four-year letterman in lacrosse, played two years of football, and three years of ice hockey before moving on to play lacrosse collegiately at Limestone College in Gaffney, SC.
