Junior midfielder Christoph Gums has been voted to the Conference Commissioner's Association Division II All-South Region Men's Soccer Team this week, adding to his list of postseason awards. He was previously selected First Team All-Sunshine State Conference and to the academic all-district team.
Gums was Florida Southern's second leading scorer this year with five goals and 18 points while leading the team with eight assists for the second year in a row. After tying for the Sunshine State Conference lead in assists last year as a sophomore, he is tied for second this year, and no other midfielder in the SSC has had more points than Gums over the last two seasons. Though Lynn and Barry remain alive in the NCAA Tournament, Gums' average of 0.50 assists per game currently ranks third in the South Region. He is tied for 27th nationally in that department, and is one of only four player who could finish in the top-25 in both 2017 and '18.
For his career, Gums has nine goals and 16 assists for 34 points in two seasons at Florida Southern. He transferred to Florida Southern last year after playing as a freshman at Manhattan College, and has made the All-SSC Team in both of his seasons with the Moccasins.
