One of Florida Southern’s seven returning All-Americans, picking up four of those awards as a freshman (two individual and two relay)… Part of Florida Southern’s national championship 200-medley and 400-medley relay teams in 2016, swimming the breaststroke leg in each of those races, and helping the Moccasins post a school record time in both of them… Has six individual wins in his career and been part of four relay wins.
As a sophomore (2016-17)… CollegeSwimming.com Preseason All-American… NCAA Division II Academic Achievement Award winner… Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Competed in every regular season meet and the SSC Championships… Regular swimmer in the breaststroke events, as well as the 100-butterfly… Competed twice in the 200-IM and once in the 50-free… Had NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 100-breast… Helped different 200- and 400-medley relay teams achieve NCAA provisional qualifying times as well… Earned silver medal in the 200-medley relay at the SSC Championships… Posted two individual wins during the regular season, one coming in the 100-breast and the other in the 200-breast… Had two relay wins as well, one in the 200-medley and the other in the 400-medley… Ranked #2 on the Florida Southern times list in both breaststroke events and was #5 in the 100-butterfly.
As a freshman (2015-16)… First Team All-American in the 100-breaststroke (7th place) and honorable mention in the 200-breaststroke (10th place)… First Team All-American in the 200-medley relay (1st place) and 400-medley relay (1st place)… Sunshine State Conference Freshman-of-the-Year… Second Team All-SSC… SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Also had an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 200-IM… One of eight Moccasins to swim in all nine meets, including the National Finals… One of the Mocs’ normal swimmers in the two breaststroke events as well as the 100-butterfly and 200-IM… Owned four individual wins and two relay wins… Split his four wins between the 100- and 200-breaststroke, and won each of those races in a dual meet with Emory… #1 on the Florida Southern times list in the 100-breast and #2 in the 200-breast.
In high school… Joined the Moccasins as a 2015 graduate of Gabrielino High School… Also swam for George Young and the San Gabriel Seagulls for 13 years… 2014 National Champion in the 100-breaststroke at the North American Challenge Cup (matching teams representing Southern California, Northern California, Texas, and Mexico)… Also took part in the 2015 Speedo Junior National Championships in the breaststroke events… Personal… Son of Steve Kim, Yuki Inoue and George Young (stepfather)… Has two brothers and one sister… Member of the ROTC at Florida Southern and plans include becoming an officer in the U.S. Army.
