Alvarez-Hevia and Miller Advance to Championship Matches at FIT Invitational

MELBOURNE - Miguel Alvarez-Hevia and Blaine Miller each advanced to the championship match of their respective Flights of the Florida Tech Invitational played here Saturday.

Alvarez-Hevia advanced to the championship match of Flight 2 with a 2-6, 6-3, 10-6, victory over ESFC's Eduardo Garcia while Miller advanced to play in to the title match with a 6-1, 7-5, victory over EFSC's Andreas Wejs. Both final matches are slated for Sunday at 1 p.m.

In Flight 1, Fabian Lundberg fell to Jesus Amerzcua of Eastern Florida State College, 6-2, 6-1, and will now play in the third place match Sunday at 1 pm against Palm Beach Atlantic's Philipp Hoffmann.

In Flight 3, Oscar Soderlund was defeated 6-2, 6-7, 10-5, by Florida Tech's Gerard Carpinell, and will face PBAU's Thomas Salmon in Sunday's 12:30 p.m. third place match. 

In Flight 4, Derek Bell was beaten, 6-1, 6-1, by Eckerd's Will Stone and Matt Matsuyama fell, 7-5, 1-6, 10-8, FIT's Jamison Burch. Bell and Matsuyama will face each other for seventh place, Sunday at 12:30 p.m. 

In Flight 6, Mark Buckman lost to PBAU's Carlos Niemeyer, 6-2, 6-4, and will play in the third place match Sunday at 2 p.m. against Eckerd's Rob Vazquez. Also, Lance Francisco, was defeated 7-6, 5-7, 1-3 (retired), by EFSC's Justine Aganon and will play in the seventh place game Sunday at 2 p.m. against Webber's Gustavo Fortunato.
