No. 9 West Florida Tops #33 Mocs, 7-2, in Men's Tennis

VALDOSTA, GA – Florida Southern continued its five-game road trip with a 7-2 loss to the No. 9 University of West Florida here Friday on the Valdosta State University campus. The 35th-ranked Moccasins fall to 0-3 on the season.

West Florida (2-0) swept the doubles competition with Warren Kuhn and Gabriel Dias setting the tone with an 8-2 win over Fabian Lundberg and Brian Slivonik at number two. Alfonso Castellano and Pablo Tellez followed with an 8-4 victory over Jose de Sario and Lennart Vossgäetter at number three while Alex Peyrot and Pedro Dumont completed the sweep with a 8-5 defeat of Laurent Mailloux and Miguel Alvarez-Hevia.

In singles, Kuhn topped Slivonik, 6-0, 6-2, at number three while Sebastian Sanchez clinched the match for West Florida with a 6-1, 6-0 win at number six over Matt Matsuyama. Dias then downed Lundberg, 6-2, 6-2, at number one while Peyrot defeated de Sario, 6-2, 6-2, at number two.

The Moccasins' two points came at number four and five singles as Mailloux and Alvarez-Hevia won by default as two Argonauts singles played out of order.

Florida Southern will play again Saturday at 11 a.m. here against Valdosta State.
