DELAND, FL - The Florida Southern men's tennis tennis traveled to Stetson on Saturday and fell 7-0 to the Division I Hatters here at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
Stetson (3-0) swept the doubles competition to pick up one point in the match. Linus Bergevi and Coilin MacNamara of Stetson downed Victor Ahlbeck and Oscar Soderlund, 6-0, at number three singles while Antoine Sanchez and Loic Blanco topped FSC's Tim Becker and Blaine Miller, 6-3, at number two. Malik Bhatnagar and Angus Bradshaw completed the sweep for Stetson with a 7-6 (7-5) win over Florida Southern's Miguel Alvarez-Hevia and Matt Matsuyama at number one.
In singles, Soderlund dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match to MacNamara at number six while Alvarez-Hevia fell, 6-2, 6-2, to Bhatnagar at number two, and Lennart Vossgaetter was defeated by Shkrob, 6-3, 6-1 at number five.
In the remaining doubles competition, Alvaro Arias was topped, 6-3, 6-1, by Blanco at number three while Becker was downed, 6-3, 7-5 by Sanchez at number four. Ahlbeck was involved in the tightest match falling, 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) to Bradshaw.
Florida Southern, now 0-2, will travel to Saint Leo on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. Sunshine State Conference match.
