Jones Posts Division II's Fastest Freshman 10K Time This Season at Bison Invite

LEWISBURG, PA - Mason Jones posted the fastest time this season for any NCAA Division II freshman in a 10,000-meter run as members of the Florida Southern men's track competed at the Bison Outdoor Classic here at the Christy-Mathewson Memorial Stadium on the campus of Bucknell University. Jones posted a 30:59.26 to finish in 33rd place. Earlier this season, Jones recorded the ninth fastest freshman time in the 5,000-meter at the Pepsi Florida Relays with a time of 14:54.87 on March 29.

Jones' time in today's 10K was a FSC record topping the old mark set on 31:38.54 by Scott Mackley at the 2009 Walt Disney World Invitational.

In the 5,000-meter on Saturday, Josh Wagner turned in a personal best time of 15:17.67 to place 19th, while Bobby Ormsby finished in 33rd place with a 14:50.69 time. Evan Quinones started in the 1500-race but did not finish due to an apparent hamstring injury.

The Moccasins are scheduled to compete next at the North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville on April 27.
