GREENWOOD, IN - Florida Southern College men's track student-athlete Josh Wagner was named by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® team on Tuesday. Wagner is one of the 12 student-athletes selected to represent District 5, which is comprised of institutions from the Sunshine State Conference, Gulf South Conference, and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Wagner is an Exercise Science major with a 3.63 undergraduate cumulative GPA. The sophomore from Marco Island, FL earned honors for cross country this past fall with USTFCCCA All-Academic and All-Region selections, as well as All-SSC 1st Team and All-Championship Team selections. He was also the 15th-place finisher at 2018 South Regional (32:40.7) and a sixth-place finisher at 2018 SSC Championship (26:04.0). His best performance of the season came on September 28 when he ran a 25:28.0 pace at the Queen City 8K Invite.
The sophomore also set a school record for track in the 1000m, running a 2:34.62 at the Embry-Riddle Indoor/Outdoor Challenge on January 19. Wagner had the ninth-fastest performance in school history in the 5000m with a 14:55.99 time on April 13 at the Bison Outdoor Classic, the fourth-fastest performance in school history in the 3000m with an 8:34.56 time on January 19 and the 10th-fastest performance in the 800m with a 1:56.77 time on April 20 at the South Florida Invitational.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfilment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
