Florida Southern has announced the addition of one doubleheader and one other adjustment to its 2019 softball schedule, both during the third week of March.
The Moccasins will now host Minnesota-Duluth in a doubleheader at Chris Bellotto Field on Monday, March 18, beginning at 3 p.m. The following day, the Moccasins will still travel to Clermont for games against St. Michael's and American International, but will now play AIC at 2 p.m. The St. Michael's game remains at 11:45 a.m.
Florida Southern and Minnesota-Duluth will be meeting for the first time. They are the third opponent this year to make their initial appearance on the schedule, joining Davenport (Iowa) and Tiffin (Ohio). Minnesota Duluth has been one of the top programs in the Central Region in recent years with five trips to the NCAA Tournament this decade. The Bulldogs, who have averaged 36 wins per season since 2013, were 44-16 last year when they finished third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and won their half of the NCAA Central Region bracket before falling to Southern Arkansas in the super regionals.
