MELBOURNE, FL - After posting a pair of double-doubles on the opening weekend of the season, Florida Southern College women's basketball junior Anja Fuchs-Robetin has been named as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Fuchs-Robetin, who entered the season with four career double-doubles, averaged 15.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game as the Moccasins went 1-1 at the GSC/SSC Classic over the weekend. She scored 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in a season-opening win over Shorter, and followed that up with 13 points and 10 rebounds in a two-point loss to Lee on Saturday.
In the two games, Fuchs-Robetin connected on 66.7 percent of her shots (12-of-18), including 2-of-3 from long range. Seven of her 22 rebounds came on the offensive glass, and she also contributed defensively with three steals and a block.
Florida Southern opens SSC play on Wednesday at Saint Leo, and plays host to Palm Beach Atlantic in the 2017-18 home opener at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
