MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College women's basketball senior Jensen Blassage has been named as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Blassage averaged 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of victories last week. She led the Moccasins to a road win on Wednesday at Barry by tying a season-high with 22 points and followed that up with 19 points as the Mocs crushed Rollins on Saturday.
In the two games, Blassage shot a combined 55.2 percent (12-of-23) from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and sunk all 15 of her free-throw attempts in the two games. For good measure, she also added 11 total rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals. She has now earned SSC Player of the Week honors four times in her career and is the second Moccasin this season to be named SSC Player of the Week, joining teammate Anja Fuchs-Robetin (Nov. 13).
Florida Southern has claimed a total of four SSC weekly honors this season. In addition to Blassage and Fuchs-Robetin's Player of the Week honors, Fuchs-Robetin has also been named as the SSC Defensive Player of the Week two times.
The Moccasins return to action on Wednesday at Tampa and return home to face Nova Southeastern at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Florida Southern is on a five-game winning streak and currently sits atop the conference standings with a 7-2 record in SSC action.
