LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College women's basketball head coach Betsy Harris has announced the signing of Kateryna Pazzaglia Khomenko to her squad for the upcoming 2018-19 campaign. A native of Italy, Khomenko will join the Moccasins after spending two seasons at Georgia Highlands College, where she helped lead the Chargers to 19 wins and an appearance in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Region 17 semifinals last year.
"Kat is a solid post player who will bring a physical presence in the paint," said Harris. "She is also strong academically as she is very eager to get in our business program at FSC. Her pursuit of excellence on the floor and in the classroom is the perfect fit for our program and school."
Khomenko played in 31 games last year and made 24 starts. She averaged 11.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while shooting 44.3 percent from the floor and 71.8 percent at the charity stripe. She also dished out 48 assists, tallied 32 steals, and recorded 57 blocks. Khomenko scored in double figure in 21 games last season and averaged better than 13.0 points per game over the last 14 games of the season.
An all-GCAA selection last season at GHC, Khomenko was also named to the GCAA all-tournament team and was an all-academic honoree. She won a club national title in Italy in 2015 and joins a Florida Southern squad that is coming off Sunshine State Conference regular-season and tournament titles, as well as a third-straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament.
