MELBOURNE, FLA. - For the second time this year and the ninth time in her career, Florida Southern's Anja Fuchs-Robetin has been selected as a Sunshine State Conference Player-of-the-Week. The senior forward from Vienna, Austria led the 17th-ranked Moccasins to a pair of wins in their own Terrace Hotel Classic by averaging 23.5 points and 8.0 rebounds to send them into Christmas Break with a league-best 9-1 overall record.
Fuchs-Robetin topped 20 points in both games for the Moccasins, scoring a team-leading 22 in a 91-65 win over Saginaw Valley State on Monday, and a game-high 25 in a 73-42 win over Cedarville (a team receiving votes in the national poll) on Tuesday. She was 8-for-11 from the field in the first game, and 9-for-16 in the second, as she shot 63 percent from the floor and 72 percent from the line. She had eight rebounds and three steals in each game, and had a total of three assists and one block.
Fuchs-Robetin is currently fifth in the SSC with 14.7 points per game, and is among the top-ten in rebounding, blocked shots, and free throw percentage as well.
This marks the second week in a row Fuchs-Robetin has been honored by the Sunshine State Conference. She was named the league's defensive player-of-the week on Monday, the sixth time she has won that award, and Thursday's selection marks the third time she has won the overall player-of-the-week.
