MELBOURNE, FL - After averaging 23.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week, Florida Southern College women's basketball standout Anja Fuchs-Robetin has been named as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. She has won the award twice this season, four times total in her career, and has won a combined 10 weekly awards from the SSC after compiling six Defensive Player of the Week honors over the last four seasons.
Fuchs-Robetin led the Moccasins to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Florida Tech (67-62) and Lynn (91-59) to help Florida Southern stay a perfect 5-0 in conference play while pushing its win streak to nine-straight games. She started off the week with 26 points and eight rebounds in Wednesday's victory over FIT, and followed that up with 20 points and three rebounds against Lynn, handing the Fighting Knights just their second loss of the season.
In the two games, she shot a combined 60.0 percent (15-of-25) from the floor and went 15-of-16 at the charity stripe (93.8 percent). She has scored at least 20 points in four of the past five games and now ranks 14th in school history with 1,265 career points. Fuchs-Robetin is second in the SSC in scoring (16.3 ppg) and has helped lead a Florida Southern offense that ranks first in the conference and 17th nationally in scoring (81.1 ppg).
The Mocs return to action on Wednesday at Palm Beach Atlantic before heading to Barry on Saturday.
