MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College women's lacrosse senior Kendall Kerge has been named as the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced on Monday.
Kerge tallied seven goals and two assists as the Moccasins went 2-0 last week. She scored six goals and notched both assists in an 18-5 win over then No. 5 Rollins, and scored once more against Lenoir-Rhyne in a 15-5 win on Senior Day.
In addition, Kerge added two ground balls, one draw control and caused one turnover during the week. Her six goals against Rollins came on just seven shots, helping the Mocs win their third-straight SSC regular-season title.
Her performances pushed her career goal total to 149, good for third in school history. Kerge's efforts also helped the Moccasins push their winning streak to 13 games, the second best mark in school history.
Kerge was previously named SSC Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 20, and has earned the honor a total of six times in her career. She joins teammate Meghan Vadala (defensive) as this week's SSC Players of the Week, marking the third time this year and the 10th time in in program history that Florida Southern has swept the conference's weekly awards.
The No. 4 Moccasins cap off their regular season on Saturday when they travel to No. 7 Limestone in a crucial NCAA South Region matchup. Florida Southern is the No.1 seed and the host for the 2017 SSC Women's Lacrosse Championship, which takes place on April 28 (semifinals) and April 30 (championship) in Lakeland.
