GRAND LAKE, CO - Florida Southern College women's lacrosse has been named as the Zag Sports NCAA Division II Academic Merit Squad, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced on Wednesday. The Moccasins earned the award by finishing with the highest cumulative team grade-point average among all Division II women's lacrosse programs.
Florida Southern finished the 2017-18 academic year with a team GPA of 3.57, better than 62 other squads that posted a 3.0 GPA or better this year. The latest award is just one of a slew of academic honors for the Mocs, who had nine individual student-athletes earn IWLCA Academic Honor Roll accolades last month. In addition, Florida Southern also boasted the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Elite 90 winner (Julia Couch) and had 34 Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll selections.
