    75 Student-Athletes Named to Fall SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College had 75 student-athletes named to the Fall SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Sunshine State Conference announced on Friday. The Moccasins ranked second among all SSC schools in the total number of student-athletes honored, and had the most with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (27).

    Paul Lawrence Announced as Florida Southern's Head Women's Soccer Coach LAKELAND - Director of Athletics Pete Meyer has announced the hiring of Paul Lawrence as the new head coach of the Florida Southern College women’s soccer program. Lawrence is joining the Moccasins from Knox College in Illinois where he spent the last three seasons as head coach after previously serving as assistant coach at Northwood University in Michigan for two years.

    Juliana Guida Named to Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team Junior defender Juliana Guida has been selected to the Academic All-District Team as one of the 12 players in the South Region with the best combination of athletic and academic accomplishments. Guida, who has a perfect 4.00 grade point average while majoring in biology, is now eligible for the Academic All-American Team which will be announced on November 21.

    Florida Southern Soccer Teams Again Rank Among the Top Academic Programs in the Country The Florida Southern soccer teams made it five years in a row where both squads were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American with the annual Team Academic Award. The men's team has now earned that award 10 consecutive years, while the women have been on the list for the last five. The men were tied for #3 among all Division II schools with their 3.45 team GPA, and the women were 13th with a team GPA of 3.56.

    Schedule Changes Announced for Women's Soccer in October LAKELAND – Florida Southern head women’s soccer coach Siggi Nagele has announced two changes to the Moccasins’ October schedule brought about by earlier postponements. Florida Southern has added a game on Wednesday, October 12 at Florida Gulf Coast University, and re-scheduled a home game against Palm Beach Atlantic for Friday, October 28.

PETERSBURG – Anna Griessler scored her third goal of the season, Helena Norrstrom recorded her first shutout, and head coach Siggi Nagele got his first win as Florida Southern’s head coach against his former team as the Moccasins out-lasted Eckerd 1-0 Wednesday night in another game marred by a lengthy weather delay. The win gives Florida Southern a 1-2-1 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the Sunshine State Conference, while Eckerd is now 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the SSC.

    Belated Season Opener Ends in 1-1 Draw at Spring Hill SPRING HILL, ALA. – Florida Southern received a goal early in the second half from sophomore Anna Griessler, and Spring Hill got a goal late in the second half from Gabrielle Burmaster as the Moccasins and Badgers played to a 1-1 tie Friday afternoon. The game was the first of the season for Florida Southerrn after two cancellations last weekend due to weather.

    Former Moccasin Soccer Player Jackie Bachteler Lands Head Coaching Job With First Division Club in Cyprus Five years after graduating from Florida Southern College, former Moccasin soccer player Jackie Bachteler has been named the women’s head coach of Anarthosis Famagusta in Cyprus. Since her graduation, Bachteler has been playing and coaching in Sweden, and will now be moving to the Mediterranean to continue her professional soccer career. Anarthosis Famagusta finished third in the Cypriot Women’s First Division during the 2015-16 season.

    2016 Florida Southern Women's Soccer Preview Unlike most teams, the Florida Southern Moccasins and their new field boss didn't need any formal introductions when Siggi Nagele was announced as the new head women's soccer coach last December. Promoted from within after serving three years as assistant coach, Nagele and the Moccasins were already very familiar with each other when they took the field for their first practice last spring. Since then, however, Nagele has been extremely busy putting the Moccasins together for 2016, merging 23 returning players with 10 freshmen and one transfer as they attempt to break through in a crowded Sunshine State Conference race.

    Sunshine State Conference Preseason Women's Soccer Poll Announced MELBOURNE, Fla. – In voting conducted by the Sunshine State Conference women's soccer coaches, the University of Tampa Spartans have been picked to win the 2016 league title. The coaches gave Tampa a four-vote edge (57-53) over Barry University for first place in the poll. Rollins College came in third with 51 total points. Teams received eight points for a first-place vote, seven for a second, down to one point for eighth place.

    Women's Soccer Recruits Report for First Preseason Practice This Weekend The Florida Southern women's soccer team kicks officially kicks off the 2016 season on September 1, and in preparation for that date, the Moccasins will be reporting to their preseason training camp this weekend. Among the 34 players expected to arrive are 11 first-year Moccasins that include 10 freshmen. They'll join 23 veterans who are back from last year's roster.

    2016 Women's Soccer Schedule Announced With the 2016 season scheduled to get underway on September 1, the Florida Southern Moccasins will begin their first season under new head coach Siggi Nagele with two games at Barnett Field during the opening weekend. Overall, the Moccasins will play eight home games this year with an additional seven on the road.
