Volleyball Opens 2017 Campaign at Home

LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College volleyball opens its 2017 campaign tomorrow when it hosts the Terrace Hotel Classic at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins will square off with Pace at 12:45 p.m. before taking on defending national champion Concordia-St. Paul at 7 p.m. on the first day of the annual tournament.

On the second day of action, the Mocs will face New Haven at 2:45 p.m. and finish out the weekend at 7 p.m. against Western Washington. Both Concordia and Western Washington enter the first weekend of action ranked in the AVCA preseason tip 25. Concordia comes in at No. 1 with a whopping 38 first-place votes, while Western Washington is ranked No. 12 nationally.

Florida Southern is tops among teams receiving votes, sitting just outside the top 25 with 75 total points. The Moccasins are 0-1 all-time against Western Washington and 0-4 against Concordia, but are 15-6 against New Haven. Friday's contest against Pace will be the first-ever meeting between the schools. The Mocs return all-conference honorees Anna Tovo and Nicole Mattson, as well as a slew of other player who saw significant action en route to an NCAA South Region championship appearance a year ago.
