    CLEVELAND, OH - Florida Southern College athletics continued its long tradition of success with a 16th place finish in the final standings of the 2016-17 Learfield Directors' Cup, which ranks all athletic programs at the NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA levels based on their success in athletic competition.

  • 75 Student-Athletes Named to Fall SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll

    MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College had 75 student-athletes named to the Fall SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Sunshine State Conference announced on Friday. The Moccasins ranked second among all SSC schools in the total number of student-athletes honored, and had the most with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (27).

    SAINT LEO - Florida Southern totaled 245 points to finish in eighth place at the NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country South Region Championship held here Saturday at The Abbey Golf Course on the Saint Leo University campus. The eighth place finish is the best for the Moccasins since the 2009 squad placed fifth.

    MELBOURNE - Florida Southern's Allison Wright has been named the 2016 Sunshine State Conference Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Year as announced today by the league office. Wright, a 2016 graduate of Sarasota High School, was also selected to the seven-member All-SSC squad.

    NEW ORLEANS – Thanks to a fourth-place showing at the Saint Leo Pre-National Meet last Saturday, the Florida Southern women's cross country team cracks the top ten of the weekly South Regional Poll as released Tuesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. FSC is ranked ninth in the region, matching the team's highest ranking of the season, which it achieved in the second regular season poll on Sept. 20.

    FAYETTEVILLE, AR - Freshman Allison Wright turned in a time of 18:56.06 over the 5K course to take 162nd place out of 492 runners and pace Florida Southern to a 16th place finish at the Chile Pepper Festival here at the University of Arkansas's off-road course. The time is the fastest recorded by a Moccasin runner since Carolyne Kwambai posted a time of 18:51.19 on Sept. 18, 2009 at the Jim Ryun Invitational.

The Moccasins scored 29 points to finish a close second to first-place Southeastern, which tallied 28 points as it grabbed three of the top four spots.

The Moccasin Invitational will take place this Saturday The men's 8K race will get underway at 7:15 a.m. with the women's 5K to follow.

Wright placed 23rd in a field of 119 non-Division I runners with a time of 20:07.84 in her first collegiate 5K race.
