A three-time First Team All-American (1990, '91, and '92) and an honorable mention All-American as a freshman, Butcher twice led the Moccasins in stroke average, with a 74.00 in 1991, and a 72.57 in 1992. He finished as the individual national runner-up in both those seasons after placing fourth as a sophomore in 1990. During his career, Florida Southern won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 1990 and '91, and finished in the top five in each of his other two seasons.
