First baseman Nick Stanley became the second Moccasin selected in the 2009 Major League Draft, as he was picked by the Houston Astros in the 25th round Wednesday.
Stanley, who transferred to FSC from North Carolina State, started all 57 games this season and hit .344 with 11 home runs and a team-high 59 RBI. He also led the team in doubles with 23 and was second on the team in hits with 78. At the NCAA South Regional, where the Moccasins finished second, he hit .375 with a home run and five RBI to make the all-tournament team.
Teammate Robbie Shields was chosen in the third round by the New York Mets on Tuesday. The draft will conclude on Thursday.
