LAKELAND, FL – University of California – Berkeley swept Florida Southern College 3-0 Tuesday night and handed the eSports Hearthstone team their second loss of the season. The Moccasins (2-2), who played the Golden Bears (4-0) on the Official Play Hearthstone Twitch channel, were not able to upset Cal on the international stream.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Moccasins brought Zoo Warlock, Secret Mage, Murloc Paladin, and Spiteful Priest decks of which the Golden Bears banned Priest. Cal brought OTK Priest, Control Paladin, Cube Warlock, and Spell Hunter decks of which Florida Southern banned Hunter.
- Game One was a fast-paced tempo matchup between Zoo Warlock and OTK Priest. The Moccasins mounted heavy board control and forced the Golden Bears to use their Divine Spirits and Inner Fire to regain control. Florida Southern had lethal present on board when Cal drew into a Crazed Alchemist, buffing their minion and turning 24 lethal damage onto the Mocs to take Game One.
- Game Two's Secret Mage versus Control Paladin matchup saw Cal take early board control. The Moccasins were never able to recover as the Golden Bears dictated the pace of the game to win Game Two
- Cal completed the sweep with a Cube Warlock win over Secret Mage in Game Three. The Golden Bears again dictated the pace of the game and an early Aluneth mulligan from the Moccasins proved to be a deciding factor in the loss.
The Mocs will be told their Match 5 and 6 opponents late Wednesday night from Tespa.
