West Named 2019 Esports MVP

LAKELAND, Fla. - Throughout the month of July, Florida Southern College Athletics will release its list of team MVPs for the 2018-19 season. Each MVP was selected by the team's head coach, and the list includes some of the top student-athletes in the country. MVPs will be revealed each weekday during the month at 10 a.m., and a list of their scheduled release dates can be found below.

"Donovan has been the starting support for the Florida Southern League of Legends team since the team began practicing in 2017," head coach Nate Carson said. "His signature champion is Blitzcrank. Donovan's leadership, great heart, and dedication to improvement have been major keys to the team's success. It's hard to play League of Legends with Donovan and not have a great time."

West helped guide the League of Legends team to a seventh-place finish at the Florida Poly tournament on Dec. 1. The team finished with a 3-3 record this season, significantly improving on the inaugural campaign in 2018, recording shoutout wins over Arkansas, Texas-Rio Grande Valley, and Texas Wesleyan.
