VALDOSTA, Ga. - Coming off a win in their last tournament, the Moccasins are finding the top spot on the leaderboard much to their liking. They share the lead with the host school after Sunday's first round of the Southeastern Collegiate Tournament here at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
Both teams finished the day at 291, four strokes ahead of third-place Barry in the field of 18 teams.
Individually, the Moccasins have two of the three golfers tied for the lead. Shelton Smith and Matt Stauch each shot a one-under-par 71 in the opening round, as did Valdosta State's Chad Smith.
FSC's Danny Evelyn shot a 74 in the first round and is tied for 13th. Jude Eustaquio had a 75 and is toed for 24th. Tobin Dunigan finished at 81 for the first day and is tied for 77th.
Round two of the tournament will be played Monday, with the final round set for Tuesday.
