EATONTON, Ga. - Posting the best team score on the final day of the Bobcat Invitational held here at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee, Florida Southern moved up two places in the team standings and finished in third place.
The Moccasins' final round score of 294 gave them a team score of 886 for the tournament, three strokes behind runner-up Belmont Abbey and five behind tournament winner Lynn in the field of 17 teams.
Individually for FSC, Jude Eustaquio shot a 74 in the final round after a pair of 72s on Monday, but moved up from a tie for fourth to finish in a three-way tie for third at 218. Belmont Abbey's Peter Tarver Jones maintained his first day lead and won the tournament with a final score of 214, three strokes better than runner-up Victor Billskoog of Barry.
Matt Stauch, who had been tied for fourth with Eustaquio after the first two rounds, shot a 76 Tuesday to finish in a four-way tie for ninth at 220.
Shelton Smith posted a 73 in the final round and finished in a tie for 18th at 223. Peter Creighton had the Moccasins' best round of the day, a 71 that matched his career-best round and gave him a final score of 230 and a tie for 54th. Danny Evelyn finished in a tie for 60th at 232 after his round of 77 Tuesday.
The Moccasins are idle from competition until the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Apr. 19-20 at Ft. Lauderdale.
