AS A SOPHOMORE (2015-16)… Jack Nicklaus Award winner as the NCAA Division II National Player-of-the-Year… All-Nicklaus Team… PING/GCAA First Team All-American… PING/GCAA All-South Region Team… Sunshine State Conference Male Athlete-of-the-Year… SSC Golfer-of-the-Year… First Team All-SSC… SSC Golfer-of-the-Week for March 21… CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American… CoSIDA Academic All-District… NCAA Division II Academic Achievement Award winner… SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll… Hal Smeltzly Award winner as Florida Southern’s Male Athlete-of-the-Year… Team MVP for the second year in a row… Played in all 11 tournaments, one of three Moccasins to do so (John VanDerLaan and Jimmy Jones were the others)… The Moccasins’ top golfer in eight of those tournaments… Led the Moccasins with a 71.17 stroke average, which was the lowest for a Moccasin since Jeff Klauk set the school record of 70.71 during the 1999-2000 season, and was the second lowest on record by any Moccasin golfer in the program’s history… Ranked fourth in the Golfstat Division II national rankings with that average, trailing only Brad Hawkins of Tusculum (70.71), Barrett Waters of West Georgia (70.73), and Chris Crisologo of Simon Fraser (71.04)… Ranked seventh with 129 birdies, an average of 3.7 per round… Had the Mocs’ best individual round of the season and the best of his career with a seven-under par 65 in the second round of the Saint Leo Men’s Invitational (September 28)… Had one 67, which was tied for the second lowest individual round by a Moccasin, had a total of 11 rounds at -3 (69) or better, and was under par in a team-leading 17 rounds… Shot under par or even par in 23 of his 35 rounds and had only three rounds over 74… Had two individual wins, at the Guy Harvey Invitational out of 100 golfers (September 28-29), and the Southeastern Collegiate out of 93 golfers (March 13-15)… Was runner-up in a field of 108 at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional and fourth out of 108 at the Division II National Finals, played at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver… Had seven top-five finishes in his 11 tournaments and was sixth in two others for a total of nine top-10’s… Placed outside the top-15 only once when he was tied for 30th in a field of 123 golfers at the McDonough Cup at Rio Pinar and still shot even par 216 for the tournament (Oct. 26-27)… Best tournament score came at the Saint Leo Men’s Invitational where he finished 10-under par and in fifth place (72-65-69=206)… Was nine-under par in two of the Mocs’ three postseason tournaments… Tied for sixth at the Sunshine State Conference Championships with a +7 (69-75-79=223) played at Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne… Runner-up out of 108 golfers at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regionals with a -9 (70-68-69=207)… Finished the stroke play portion of the National Tournament in fourth place out of 108 golfers with another -9 (70-68-69=207)… Had rounds of 69 and 75 during match play at the National Finals… Won his quarterfinal match over Kavan Eubank of California Baptist by two strokes to send Florida Southern into the semifinals… The only Moccasin golfer to win a match play event in each of the last two National Tournaments.
AS A FRESHMAN (2014-15)… PING/GCAA First Team All-American… Phil Mickelson Award recipient as Most Outstanding Freshman in Division II… PING/GCAA All-Freshman Team… PING/GCAA All-South Region Team… SSC All-Tournament Team… All-SSC Second Team… SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll… Team MVP… Played in all 12 events as a freshman… Top finish was medalist honors in his second collegiate tournament at the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational (9/28-29/14) in Columbus, Ga., as he shot a (-10) 203 for 54 holes… Also had three other Top 5 finishes, including the team's top finisher at the NCAA Division II National Championships (5-18-20/15) as he placed fourth in the stroke play portion after carding a 3-under par 210 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C. … Was runner-up at the SSC Championships at Red Tail (4-12-14/15) in Sorrento, Fla., as he carded 6-under par 210… Was the Mocs’ top finisher at three events, including two during the fall campaign… Had a team-best 18 rounds of par or better, including three of the team's four lowest single rounds of the season… Won his match during the match play portion of the NCAA Championships (5/21/15) as he defeated Lynn's Mateo Gomez by three shots as he shot an even-par 71… His 71.82 scoring average was sixth best among all Division II golfers… Opened his collegiate career by tying for 19th (-2) at the Saint Leo Invitational (9/22-23/14).
HIGH SCHOOL: 2014 graduate of Newsome High School in Lithia, Florida… Was a four-year lettermen in golf at NHS… Two-time first-team all-county selection as a junior and senior… Was a four-time state qualifier… Finished sixth in the FHSAA State Golf Tournament as senior… Recorded a scoring average of 34.4 his senior year and helped lead team to a runner-up finish in the FHSAA Class 3A State Tournament… As a junior, qualified for the State Championships and led team to a third-place finish… Claimed the FHSAA District 10 individual title… Recorded a season scoring average of 36 as a junior… Qualified for the State Championships his sophomore year and recorded a scoring average of 39 to help NHS finished third as team… Posted a scoring average of 41 as a freshman and competed in the State Championships… In the classroom, was a member of the National Honor Society… Posted a 6.89 grade point average and was named Newsome's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2014… Named a Tampa Tribune Honors Student as a senior… Earned a U.S. Marine Distinguished Athlete Award and was a Heart of a Champion recipient in 2014.
PERSONAL: Son of Doug and Lisa Coultas… Has an older brother, Ryan (24) and a younger sister, Kelly (17)… Claimed the 2014 FSGA Boys’ Junior Amateur Championship… Advanced to the quarterfinals of the 113th Western Amateur Championships in August of 2016 at Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Illinois after tying for fourth place in stroke play with a 4-round total of 281 (73-70-71-67)… Tied for eighth in stroke play of the 2015 Western Amateur and fell in sudden death in Sweet 16 of match play at Western Amateur… Placed 12th at the 2015 Florida State Amateur and teamed with former Moccasin teammate Jimmy Jones to finish third at 2015 Florida State Four-Ball Championship… Participated in the Florida Boy's Junior Amateur Championship in 2012 and 2013 and also competed in FSGA State Amateur Match Play in 2014… Enrolled in the Honors College at Florida Southern.
