MELBOURNE, FL - In a week of firsts, Florida Southern men's lacrosse senior Lucas Claude has been named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Last week, Claude totaled a career high in weekly goals with 14 as the Moccasins defeated Alabama-Huntsville (16-9) and Lynn (14-12) last week.
His week started with a nine-goal performance in the Moccasins' final non-conference match as they defeated Alabama-Huntsville, 16-9. Claude also recorded an assist and picked up a pair of ground balls in the win. The Moccasin senior concluded the week with five more goals to bring his season total to 32 as Florida Southern took down its second SSC opponent in Lynn, 14-12. He also picked up three ground balls.
Claude's 14 goals were the most of any SSC men's lacrosse student-athlete in the last seven days. The nine goal total against UAH is the second highest at any division of lacrosse this year, and also the second most in school history.
Claude will look to add to his goal total when the Mocs head to Tampa on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
