LAKELAND, FLA. – The Florida Southern College men's lacrosse program has released its 2020 spring schedule, which includes a trip to Baltimore, Md., and a game at historic Homewood Field.
In all, the Mocs have a 15 game slate, which features eight home dates, including a string of four straight.
"We're looking forward to a great 2020 season," said Head Coach Marty Ward, now in his tenth season as the helm. "We have the right players and the right schedule… we can't wait to start the season."
Four of the first five matchups of the season will take place on Moccasin field, with the Molloy College Lions kicking things off with a date on Feb. 7. After a trip to Belmont Abbey on Feb. 15, the Mocs return home to host Tampa in a non-conference game on Feb. 22, followed by Montevallo on Feb. 29, Saint Rose (N.Y.) on March 4, and Mount Olive on March 8.
Up next, Florida Southern heads to Baltimore on March 12 to face Frostburg State, who is brand new to Division II. That game will take place on the hallowed grounds of Homewood Field, where the very best college lacrosse players have played since the venue opened, in 1906.
"This is such a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes," Ward said. "Homewood Field is so steeped in history, in tradition. The US Lacrosse Hall of Fame is right there too. What a great experience this will be for our team."
The northern road swing continues on April 14, with a tilt at Chestnut Hill, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Sunshine State Conference play is up next, with the Mocs hosting Palm Beach Atlantic on March 21. FSC rounds out the month on the 28th, at Embry-Riddle.
April shows five conference dates in an 18-day span to close out the regular season. Highlights include home dates with Florida Tech (April 1), Saint Leo (April 8), and a Senior Day matchup with Rollins (April 18).
The SSC Championships will begin on April 23 on campus sites, with the Finals slated for April 26.
